While most people know by now that the rags to riches tales are the exception and not the rule, I’ve begun to develop a multi-generational theory of wealth accumulation.
From the time of the Robber Barons up until today, the vast majority of people who become upper class, were raised in middle to upper middle class households.
Basically, what I’m trying to answer is, how many generations, on average, does it take a family to accumulate enough wealth to rise from lower class to middle class.
I have a hypothesis, but I need more data to test it.
